About Third Generation Contracting
Jack Gardner III
President and Founder
Jack is instrumental in running a unique production team, while only working with the most reliable subcontractors. He works closely with the plumbers, electricians, engineers, and HVAC subs up front to get bids for specific projects. The result is a time and cost effective system that has given the company the ability to maintain tight controls on budget, quality, scheduling, and customer service. Jack is always present on his jobsites and often facilitates communication to ensure there’s a comprehensive understanding of all conditions on his jobsite. This can typically be seen during on-site meetings with the subcontractors involved on the project. This also gives all of the subs an opportunity to get to know one another, in efforts to build a team environment. On the front end he has a very organized process for estimating, budgeting, and change orders by utilizing an Excel database full of project templates he has developed from scratch. Items within the database are updated based on pricing all relative to unit pricing tactics. As a result of these well kept figures, the company’s initial estimates flow nicely into the final invoice. He prioritizes efficiency, making sure all materials are properly used to reduce waste. He always provides a thorough punch out process at the end of each remodeling project. His processes have significantly improved efficiency, consistency, and customer service. He has won the Houzz Customer Service award three years in a row, 2014-2016. Jack focuses on building trust and selling the value of the company he is so proud of. Many customers appreciate the extra effort of his customer service and many reward him with additional projects and referrals. Jack has been nominated for a “40 under 40” candidate in recent years for Pro Remodeler magazine by his peers. He attends numerous seminars and home shows, keeping abreast of the latest product and material developments in the construction and remodeling industry.

Mike DeFrank: Mike started in the trades at a very young age, taking an immediate interest in construction. He was trained in all facets of the construction trades, to include masonry, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and overall project management. At an early age he had the competence to complete a remodeling project from start to finish, which he recognized as a valuable skill. As he worked in the different areas of construction it was early on that he realized carpentry was his passion and second love. Mike enjoys running the projects from start to finish as well as increasing his knowledge in the field to the innovation products and designs that are forthcoming in the industry. Aside from his craftsmanship skills alone, what you will see with Mike if he is on your project, is a work ethic that is hard to come by. He shows up each day and puts in his heart and soul in each job. His work ethic is rewarded by producing outstanding projects from start to finish with an incredible attention to detail. For Mike, the ultimate reward in his professional life is handing over the finished product to a very satisfied customer. With carpentry being his second love, his four children and wife are what drives him to be successful. Mike works extremely hard to also reward himself with family time which may be at home or on the football field with his boys. With all that he has accomplished at a young age, Mike feels as though he is just getting started!
